Hi everyone.. I'm brand new to the ps3 scene, but very well rounded in the dss sat TV dept, which should be a plus!!! Spent aprox 4 hrs reading here, and it seems to me the first step is that I have to downgrade firm ( CFW) ?? I read about chips, onboard soldering mods, software, etc.. I'm just a little confused on these first step options. My interests for this project are being able to play my PS2 & PS3 games that I've backed up, because my cd discs skip and freeze in my PS3 console now.. My hardware info is in the title. Tnks 4 any help out there..

Advice? Get the E3 Flasher.

find out if its nand or nor. and order the chip and all the needed pieces such as the usb. e3 for nor progskeet for nand. once you get the required pieces you can then downgrade to a lesser firmware. there are tutorials everywhere. then you will be on 3.55 and can have cfw and even a recently released 4.31 cfw i believe. i dunno if its full cfw or a spoof. but i do know it has been getting alot of reported success.

Tnks guys.. According to the model # chart I read here, my CECHKO1 is nor.. I was hopeing for a manual hardware mod (soldering) make a jtag, and flash fw with cpu.. I was also reading about playing PS2 on PC and on PS3 that full games can be played in ps store or something. Do I still need the same hardware mod for that ??? tnks..

He told you in plain English in the title of his thread it is nor. Don't you know by now what model number= nor and which= nand?
