I see a lot of bricked PS3s in these forums. Is this just a matter of people not following the instructions and validating the dumps or is it just a poor product?

I read that if on ofw 4.30 or lower you dont need a dongle if following chapter 2 method 1,but i am on ofw 4.31.Does this still count for me?

Most is user error. You got a lot of people who have never taken a PS3 apart, trying to install a fragile piece of hardware. And they are in a rush, so they aren't making multiple dumps to make sure the clip is secure.

Last time I checked 4.31 is not lower than 4.30. So yes you will need a dongle.

There is a new 4.31 CFW, that might work. But I haven't tried it yet. I am going to test it later. But I have a feeling it won't work, until Rogero makes one that will.

Hi everyone. yesterday i followed the Method 1,(PS3 SLIM,3.66FW,MXIM chip).Everything was OK,backup,patch,write to PS3,but after i install Rogero 4.30 from Recovery,when my PS3 reboot,i get RSOD.nothing help me.Then i take my first backup and write them to PS3 - and it´s bricked.Can someone help me?Thanks very much.

Today i did a downgrade using the patch method (1st method) and it was slightly faster to write the Nor than with e3_downgrade.bin from E3

It took between 8-9 minutes to flash.
Usually it took me 12-15 minutes

Start Chapter 2 over. If your PS3 does not stay on for you to flash, then solder a wire from nor tristate to SBE. And have Switch one up to keep it on.

I'll get ma e3 flasher today and I'm really excited about it.
I was confused when I rea that you need an e3 card reader to be able to hack the PS3, because I couldn't find a shop to buy it.
I'm very happy that I found your tutorial, where you have an option to hack the PS3 without the e3 jig.

I'll try it out today and give a feedback later.

I followed the Method 1.

Everything went well, but now at the screen with the "connect controller" text as soon as I connect it and plug in my USB Stick with the Rogero 4.30 CFW (I'm on 4.11) it stucks with the message "Checking... Please wait."

I tried with another USB Sticks but it isn't still working.

Can someone please help me?

You have to have your blu ray drive connected.

12-15 min for e3_downgrade vs 8min for patched...bull..they both take the same amount of time just pointin it out incase someone forgets it
