E3 Flasher Brick???

I've been looking at the symptoms of this console which is my friends, who tried to downgrade using an E3 Flasher. It's a fat 40gb Cechj02 nor.

Now, the console had the YLOD as a result of the E3 Flasher. Apparently he got the flasher installed, had the console on and this happened, meaning there was something wrong with the flasher hardware itself.
I'm not sure if he made a successful NOR dump, I don't believe he did so this is where the problem is.

He gave the console to me with the YLOD. I tried to put my e3 card reader dongle to put the console in FSM. Now the console stays on, but comes up with the black "connect a controller" screen.
From there it askes for FW 4.25 or later which is what the console was on originally. I tried to update with both OFW 4.25 and 4.30 but the unit hangs at the "checking please wait" screen for about 5 mins, then you hear 3 beeps and blinking red light.
After this the console still turns on and back to the "connect a controller screen".

I've tried booting in recovery mode with success. I decided to restore and format the hdd. I also tried updating to 4.25 OFW same as before, but it hangs again on the "checking please wait" for 5 mins, 3 beeps then flashing Red light.

So do you think this console is bricked?
I thought after being able to get into recovery there was still some hope for this unit.
Could be a corrupt bios?
I know there's no point trying another flasher because without a NOR backup to work with I'm SOL!!

I also used the BD Drive out of this unit to remarry it with a different console as i thought this one was good as dead.
So even if I could update it wouldn't work now right?
I have a BD drive in this 40gb now but it's not remarried as its not on 3.55.

I'm out of ideas at the moment so any ideas anyone could provide would be great.

Thanks for reading

You can fix that PS3. Even without a blu ray drive.

You can follow this guide, you said you have e3 flasher? Since the PS3 is staying on, you won't have to solder a wire like it says in step 1.

That debricking guide should state, that you may still be able to make a valid dump. Instead of assuming you already have a valid one.

I don't see the logic behind getting a back up of something you've bricked. Its considered an invalid back up at that point.

If you don't have a back up, sure - dump whats invalid. If its patchable, patch it. Its all in the wiki.

I tried this guide. But to no avail. I have NO dump, and a bricked ps3 slim. There is nothing I can do now is there?

If you cannot get a valid dump from your PS3, then either the clip or soldering is not connected properly. Or your PS3 is a permabrick.
