*UPDATE*
Grabbed an hour at din-dins time today at work to do some testing of the Phoenix PCB concept. As you can see from my last batch of pictures I had soldered my ProgSkeet v1.2 PCB onto the Phoenix PCB (today I replaced the FPGA, regulator and crystal back onto the v1.2 PCB which I had removed to test my version of the ProgSkeet v1.1 PCB). No need to program in a v1.1 BitStream as that was already loaded into the FPGA, so I just plugged it into my PCB via a USB cable and the damn thing worked first time! 'Ping'! connected. I then took my NAND adapter board which already had a NAND chip soldered onto it and plugged the 50Way cable into the 50way socket (mounted under the Phoenix PCB) and damn it again the thing worked first time to dump an image from that NAND. So: Test 1 of 4 (does the ProgSkeet v1.2 act as a v1.1 & USB connect): PASS. Test 2 of 4 (does the Phoenix dump / program a 'solderless' NAND): PASS. Test 3 of 4 (does the Phoenix dump / program on-board NAND): TBD Test 4 of 4 (does the Phoenix dump / program on-board NOR): TBD Tests I cannot do: Cannot test in-circuit dumping / programming of NAND or NORs mounted on a PS3 motherboard. Why? Haven't got any PS3's to play with! BUT, if the above tests work, then 99% sure this should work too. Andy |

You will be able to flash a NAND on the ps3 powering by your skeet but not nor mounted on the ps3 powered by your skeet
Ill eat my hat if you do you may be able to program a nor on your skeet (off ps3) Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk |

^ as is the case with all other programmers (and no, I don't think this will too).
What I AM hoping is that the Phoenix CAN program a NOR soldered to the Phoenix PCB using power from USB only. Have yet to test this so fingers crossed aye? A |

and if the progskeet is getting hot then as sarah1331 has said check your wiring also if you are on a laptop then plug in its charger and go into the power options and set it for high performance this will give your usb ports full power and so the progskeet will then also get full power. if still an issue then get a double usb to mini cable so extra power can be accessed from a second usb port if it still fails then you have something wrong there @Sarah1331 its the double usb to mini that i use with my prog 1.1 and i can power the nor from progskeet just fine for reading but writing can be hit and miss also the chip on the prog gets hot during writing this way now the chip on prog 1.2 is supposed to be a bigger one than what it was supplied with. i wonder if this is making it harder to power from usb for nor writing. i wonder if the skeet1.2 can be powered from ps3 instead of usb to make it work propperly. really need to get a hold of all my stuff so i can start testing again. oh and buy the bits off you. |
