So is all of BSD, the Mac is totally Open if you install it in the Darwin flavor,
the only thing about Apple that is proprietary is intuitivity( Finder + Cocoa. )

Yet I expect a game developers interpretation of open as availability of dev tools.

I suppose if you mean in a software sense of things then yes. But the machine on a hardware level is closed. Im sure they would be just as pissed as sony if someone made a mac do something fun and "naughty" just like people are doing with PS3

ofc he means software not hardware.-.- but i personally dont think apple is that big of a threat to pc. they take over cell phones ..wow not very impressed because people only buy them to have them, because they see others with them, not because its hardware. apple is just simple hardware in a nice box with a dedicated OS built to run smoothly on that simple hardware and make it look impressive. and by dedicated is i mean like with consoles. its made to run on that specific hardware, unlike windows which is made to run on whatever will let it run

No one can deny that ****ing retina display on those devices are an eyegarsm.

I hate fanboys not the product, the product is ok.

If they want to enter to console market, why not?. Sony ****ed all up for a long time, MS too. Steam is making their way trough.
Also consoles are closer than a gaming rig than ever in console history.

The Mac can already do whatever you want it to.
You can make and run your own apps.
