It got YLOD probably.
It needs Reflow as temp solution, or Reball life time repair

just make sure you got YLOD (Yellow light of Death), when it is turning off, it blinks yellow then red light.
this happens when the PS3 gets over heated.
to solve it you reflow the GPU using heat gun, BGA, but this is a Temp solution.
or go to repair shop and let them reball it and this is a perma fix

hope you did not pay too much for it...

flashing red light after trying to power on the console is so common on the earlier fat models.

Hey guys,
I'm in a similar situation with my 60Gb Fat (CECHA01).
I tried to downgrade to 2.30 from modified FW 3.41 (3.56 spoof) as I bought a new logic board to try and fix the bluray drive (remarry)
After going into factory service mode I installed the 2.30 PUP and lv2diag.self (file1) onto a USB and turn on the PS3. After about 4 minutes the green light started flashing and nothing seemed to be happening. I left it for about 10 minutes until I turned it off.
Now when I turn on the PS3 its on for about 5 seconds then turns off by itself. The difference is there is no flashing lights or beeps. Light goes green for about five seconds, light goes red.
Any ideas whats happened? Can it be fixed?
PS. I can still get into recovery mode if thats any help.

Try Install OFW 3.50 from Recovery menu.
if it does not work, put it in FSM mode, put FSM in Self + OFW 3.5 or any other OFW (less than 3.55 to do the Remarry)

Thanks for the quick response!
I tried going into FSM before and it didn't let me (PS3 just turned off)
I'll download OFW 3.50 and try to install via recovery and let you know how it goes.
Thanks.

How you get into FSM?
the PS3 suppose to go off after 10 - 15 seconds after pressing the Power + Eject Button combo.
