Help getting my PS3 working again?

I just pulled out my old ps3 from storage in the basement. It broke a couple of years ago, and I just ended up leaving it down there. I want to get it fixed, and then see how much I can mod it. I forget what was exactly wrong with it, but here is all the info I have on it.

I found a spare power cable, and an HDMI cable, and I plugged it into my monitor. When I turn it on, I get a green light, but there is no output on the screen. The monitor doesn't even recognize the PS3. The PS3 is one of the older models. There is no warranty on it, so I'm not afraid to open it up for any reason.

Really, I dont know what I'm doing when it comes to modding/fixing PS3s, but it would be great if you guys could help me out.

Thanks!

You need to reset your video output with the power button. When the ps3 is on stand by press and hold the power button until it beeps again.

as in you did nothing and it just stopped working?, or as in you installed a firmware and it shut down....

a flash related problem can also cause this symptom.

GPU solder is probably cracked, would need a reball.

I don't think I was flashing it at the time. It was a while ago, so I forget what was happening. I asked my brother and he said that we were playing a game, and it just turned off. That may or may not be the issue, because he didn't fully remember either.

What exactly is that, and how much of an issue is it?. Is there any way I can do it myself?

Replaces rubbish cracked tin solder that the graphics processing unit is attached to the main board with new lead solder.

Overheating and rapid cooling cycles lead to solder cracking and no output to monitor or tv.

Needs a professional to do it, not something you can do yourself.

I would recommend this place http://www.efxcomputer.com/game-cons...s3-repair.html , I have the same problem as you and I plan on going to these guys, they charge a 100$ and a lifetime warranty. There is a video of them doing it as well, I recently got a job and get my first paycheck this Thursday so I can report back. I've heard nothing but good about these guys
