but i wanted 3.5 because you can remarry your Board with it first if it did not work we go to 3.55 Remarry. but here is the thing, is your BD Board is broke or not working, since the OF update will update it and if it did not find it it will give you an error loop, if that happens, you have to use NOBD FW ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Why you are not in the "Describe the Person above you" Thread ![]() i can not keep up with you in that thread

Yeah I know what you mean.
I used a BDB FW before to get to 3.41 (3.56 spoof). However, with a broken drive, I could install pkg files but they wouldn't run. Now that I bought a new logic board I wanted to fix the problem and get onto 3.55CFW. But this remarry process is killing me! I feel like I'm in a loop myself! I don't know what to do. Time for bed. Work tomorrow. Thanks for your help. I might pop in tomorrow night and let you know if I've made any progress. |

even if the new board is not married, firmwares should install just fine, as long as the board is properly working.

UPDATE:
OK. I found OFW 3.50 and tried to install it via recovery, but no go. It asks to install 3.56 or above. I guess this is the spoof making it think it is on 3.56, so anything lower will no be accepted (I tried it anyway but it just hung there as expected) Next I tried re-installing the custom 3.41 with 3.56 spoof (through recovery), just to get my XMB back and stop it from turning off. That way I could start over. But again it wouldn't accept the update. I reformatted my USB in WinXP but that didn't work either. Any ideas what else I can try? Any of the other options in recovery menu worth a shot? (rebuild database etc) Please help! |

@viper073
You gotta get rid of that spoof before you can proceed. Take the ofw 3.40 pup and run it through ps3mfwbuilder and only select the patch to install it on a ps3 with a broken BD drive. When that is done put your ps3 into service mode and use the modded 3.40 pup you just made and the lv2diag file1 to install it. Wait for you ps3 to turn it self off. Alternatively you can take apart your ps3 and install the good BD drive, then go into service mode and install the non modded 3.40 with the lv2diag file1. Either way will get rid of the spoof and you should be able to boot to the xmb now. Exit service mode, and make a new post saying which of these methods you used. I can't help you with the remarry but there are others here who have been so continue with them.

@ Mr Dutch:
Yes, I exited FSM. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I know I am out of FSM as I am able to enter recovery mode. When I am in FSM I cannot enter recovery mode. I have a video below to show what is happening. @ butnut: I agree, I need to get rid of the spoof firmware. This is what I tried to do when attempting to downgrade to 2.30. It didn't work (see my previous post) and now my PS3 turns off 5 seconds after I turn it on. Here is a video to show what is happening: http://youtu.be/kSl7UO7QqZY The first part shows what happens without any dongle/USB. The second part shows me trying to enter FSM with my dongle (which worked when I first tried to downgrade) As you can see I don't get any display and the PS3 just turns off. I would love to try your method but I can't get into FSM or even my XMB. Anything else I can try? |
