if it always shut down at the same point (you said 70%) , it can't be a hardware fault if you ask me, unless the nands are bad.

but if it shut down at random points, then it's most likely a hardware faillure, sony used crappy solder and crappy thermal paste.

is the fan also kicking in?

@Mr.Dutch can hear the fan starts up but as of now it just starts up into green light then yellow then beeps 3 times into red light. It wont boot up anymore.

@playerkp420 and @Mr.Dutch if i managed to get it re-balled will it stop me from getting to the system update screen everytime i boot it up? if not how do i get out of it?

if it's reballed the system won't shut down due to the hardware faillure, so you should be able to finish the firmware install.

i just want to update my rogero, i see, so this was a hardware problem right?

Apparently so i did forget to mention that my ps3 has been reflowed around 3 months ago. Maybe it started acting up right when i was installing the new rogero which was the best timing to screw up....

@Mr.Dutch how long do you think my ps3 will last with a reball? or should i just get a slim instead.
