Thanks for your quick reply.

Why do I need that if the CFW is on the USB?

You cannot install firmware from recovery, without a working blu ray logic board attached.

Oh, I didn't know that. I mean, mine is attached but it doesn't read discs anymore. Could it be the reason for it?

I have a 2nd PlayStation. Should I do a quick Blu Ray disc reader exchange?

Thank you for helping me!

You could try that, if it is the same model. It may be the ribbon cable giving you the problem.

I don't think the drive has to be married, but it does need to be connected for the firmware to install.

Or you could do method 2, which does not require the blu ray drive to be connected.

The problem is, that I don't have the USB Jig thing. That's why i choose the 1st Method.

Well, if the clip is not secured it does not matter how many dumps you make. I would thought that you would need to reseat the clip again to make sure that you can make a valid dump.

Isn't the whole exercise a pain in the back side if the clip is not sitting properly? Wouldn't you need to open and close the whole case again. Is there a way you can downgrade without putting everything back on and easy access to the clip?

Even when you get a good dump, make multiple dumps. Then compare them with HxD analysis tab, file compare.
There have been times I would get a valid dump the first time. But then the clip must of come off some, from the tape stretching in the heat.
You think you have it good enough because you got a valid dump. Then wonder why it bricked after flashing.

You don't have to put the ps3 all the way back together. Look at the pics in the first post, of how I do it. Or look at the pics in the ultimate fool proof guide. He just puts the heat sinks and psu on.

I looked at some of the pics in your posts. On the second pic you used the duct tape, I know this tape really sticks. Is this likely to cause damage to the main board when you are pulling it off?

Also looking at the ultimate guide, the Blu Ray Drive is not connected. Is it not needed when you are doing the downgrade?

I use clear scotch tape first, then put the duct tape over it. It doesn't hurt the motherboard, and comes off cleanly when finished.

The blu ray drive is not needed for flashing the Nor chip.
