But I never updated the flasher. I don't need to use it on another PS3 because I don't have another one so I assume its not really neccessary to do the update.bin file. I can move right on to the downgrade process.

Back when i was using My E3 Flasher, i was updating it every time i do a downgrade (Total 5 Downgrade with E3 Flasher) and every time i update using Sam 28.10.2011 update, and each time update without problem.

Edit: but as @playerkp420 said you only need to do it once

Before you move on, you need to make sure the clip is on correctly. Then make multiple backups, and get them validated.

You can update the flasher, by connecting it to your PC. Drag n Drop the update.bin onto the drive.

Hey I have a question. I know I have been getting some answers through different sources and you seem to know a lot about doing E3 flashing 'n stuff. I have the E3 card reader and my micro SD card. I put the update.bin file on the Micro SD card put it on the software and had the first 2 switches down and the rest up for the first install. I have never updated the E3 Flasher before. It is brand new and hardly anything done to it except my PS3 being opened multiple times trying to correct the position of the E3 ribbon. Now down to the point. As I turn on my PS3 the blue lights are suppost to turn on but they don't. Does that mean that I need a new E3 Ribbon or does it mean my Software is already up to date when I recieved it? please I really need help. If you need a video I will make one and show it to you on what happens.

There is an official update from E3 team named 2012.01.02, should you use this one instead of 2011.10.28? I thought you use the latest version. What is the difference between them? Should you update the flasher each time you downgrade a different PS3 console?

After you do that, is the update.bin still on the sd card? If it is still there, the flasher didn't take the update.

You should be able to update it as much as you want. Even with the same update.bin.

I have read that some users had problems getting the flasher to update. So the solution was to update via USB, instead of micro SD.

Yeah the SD card seems to just hold on to the update.bin file. It won't update. I will see what I can do to try and update through the USB. Now just to be sure I am using the cable that is used to charge the PS3 controllers correct?

Yes, that is correct.

The instructions are here in the English-E3 FLASHER LIMITED Function Operation Manual Version 1.01

Hey Great news i got the update.bin to work. Its a little hard for the computer to detect it but i got the update.bin part to work. I saw all blue lights turn on instantly when i put the file in the Bootden disk drive or wutever it was called. Now on to the backup process/downgrade switch

think the latest update defeats the "multiple ps3s" someone mentioned earlier that this update does not require soldering/flash fun to unbrick? can't be right?! would be nice update if works then only remove the "1key" flag and new better update
