Did you not read the link I gave you? The title says you need a flasher.

You have to patch the dump with the three musketeers and flash the patched dump to your nor chip.
Then instead of using FSM to downgrade to 3.55 checkoff, you connect the controller and install 4.30 CFW or 4.31 CFW from there.

Also, yes every Sony firmware is pawnable. But you can only install it from 3.55. Or if you patch the correct offsets in the flash.

so if he has metldr1 and minverchk says its lowest FW is 3.56 he's good to go?

Yea. That's it. Best to check metldr and bootldr headers with a hex editor to be 100% sure. But I am almost positive metldr 2 was not implemented until sometime around may of 2011. Which is all the cech-25xx with min. Version 3.60 or higher.

ok so i have 1 ps3 its a slim and im wanting to be able to hack and my friend is selling me his ps3 it is OFW 4.31 same as mine. if i buy it can i downgrade it to 3.55 and jailbreak it and then do a game data transfer on my ps3 which is OFW and im new to this stuff so please help.

Secondly you haven't posted your model number so no one can answer your question.

thanks guys i no u can only install cfw from 3.55 etc but just dont want to mess it up at all, and its all this metloaders stuff think its starting to sink in lol

the date code is a number+letter
the combination says when the PS3 has been built together
the number is for the year
for the example is the number 7 built in 2007
number 1 is 2011 etc the lowest year is 2006 datecode number 6
the letter tells in which quarter it has been built
there are letter from A to D
A = jan, feb,march
B = apr, may, juny
C = july, aug, sept
D = okt, nov, dez

so 1A has been built in the first quarter in 2011
7C is 3rd quarter in 2007

the higher the datecode is the less chances you have to downgrade 1A or less = downgradeable 1B = 50/50 1C or higher not downgradeable
