I got a CECH21xx my self here... Running at 59c/55c, before I changed thermal compound she was 77/70
Right now it sits at 70C
I did change the thermal compund... But I'll try to change it again then.

I changed the thermal compound (Arctic Cooling MX-2), got 60-64C. But after being on XBM, i get the message that the PS3 is overheated, and it shut itself down.

What should I do now?

Edit: I lost the small termal pads by accident, has that anything to do with it overheating?

No, I only replaced the compund on top, not the IHS. Could this be the problem?

check the temps and tell me what temps you have right before the overheat screen comes.

Maybe its not your CPU/GPU overheating...

I belive I had like 75 before it died, not sure tho... I can check again if you want.

I just tried to take the whole upper case off, and now I'm sitting steady at 61 CPU and GPU 56 in around 5 mins... But when i have the upper case on with screws and everything i get CPU up to 70+ and gpu to 60+ in just 1 min.

your temps are too high but not high enough for the ps3 to shutdown, I had a ps3 today here that was running at 77/63... And rock solid.

Get those thermalpads back in place.
