Heya,

First of, thank you for making this tutorial.

I just tried this yesterday on a CECHG03 40GB (PAL), but it sadly didn't work for me.

My oven was pre-heated at 200C then I did put the PS3 mobo in it for 10 minutes.

I cleaned the heatsinks with 99% isopropanol alcohol. Then I applied Silver Artic 5 like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eytRmdhl4oc

I also used the No Clean Flux and applied it correctly regarding several youtube videos.

I covered everything (plastic and caps) with Blutack (And the shiny foil side up). And I also removed the battery, and covered it with Blutack and foil as the holder was plastic.

But it returned me a YLOD.

So I tried it again today but letting the oven pre heat at 200C for a even longer time. Then put the PS3 mobo in there and put the temperature to 210C or so.

Repeating the process above..

But it still gave me a YLOD.
I even tried a other power supply. From a CECHC04 60GB (PAL), but again it still gave me a YLOD.

Any ideas? I really want to get it to work now... hehe

Unfortunately this is just one of those delicate things, it can work or it can not.
it's just a run of the mill kind of thing. i did this guide as to show people how it is done and what not to do when doing it, not as a 100% fix more a last resort before it goes in the bin.

This ps3 has been fixed twice and finally it died after i dropped it moving to a new room

i wish you luck if you do try it again.

Sorry to hear it meet it's end. Ruby was an inspiration to many a PS3.

I have no idea. I personally charge up to $200. In the USA it is cheaper as there is competition. Where I am its just me and 3 other people.

It can be the "definitive" guide when using an oven... but is not a "definitive repair guide"

Using an oven is the most ghetto/cheap/crappy method to repair BGA solders
The only method worst than the "oven" is the "towel" used by some XBOX360 guys that was desperated

-----
This said... a real reballing needs a "infrared BGA station" (very expensive equipment)
The price in europe for a real reball is around 75€... but i understand it can reach 150$ or 200$ in some cases... but is too much @BwE

The alternative is a "reflow"... this is what i imagine @Sarah1331 is offering for £45-55 ??
