CECH-3003A won't accept disk, motherboard fault

Hello, My 3003A has broken right when I wanted to play Dead Space 3!

Sony -> <- Me

When trying to place the disk it doesn't respond at all. I've held eject to trigger the force reset which did get the motors active but ultimately has not helped.

The drive itself is fine, I put the complete drive with cable ribbons in a friends CECH-2503A and it took the disk and ejected it straight away. So I think the problem must be on the motherboard? Has anyone seen this problem before and is it worth trying to fix or should I sell for parts? It's not urgent to fix this as I can upgrade my CFW CECH-2003 to OFW for the time being. Thanks

Been trying to fix something like this in my thread.
Logic board is likely the culprit in your scenario considering you have tested to ensure the drive works in another system.

If this is the case, it is possible to fix but it's complicated and from my own experience over the past couple days, I'd say it'd be better to sell for parts if you can lol. xD
The process involves purchasing a new logic board which you can find cheap on Ebay for £5 ish then either:

Replace your current logic board with it which involves remarrying it to your mobo (requires fw3.55 and a method of getting into Factory Service Mode).
or
Swap out the BGA of the new logic board and put it in your old logic board (I don't think this method requires fw3.55 or FSM but it involves soldering and seems a bit risky in my opinion).

his logicboard is on the ps3's mainboard, so there's nothig to replace...

EDIT: @redtree , i guess the ps3 won't turn on when you try to insert a disc?

@Mr.Dutch From standby (red light), inserting a disk does turn the PS3 on. Motor does not engage to take disk though.

One thing I've noticed with the drive, it's similar to the CECH-2503 drive but the sensor PCB is a KBL-001 while the CECH-2503 is a BL1-011. Maybe there is a fault with it that can cause this problem in the CECH-3003 but not when the drive is used in a CECH-2503? Just an uneducated long shot idea, it's all I've got! lol

not likely...
so if you hold the eject button the motors do work, they just don't work when they need too.

erm he's got a 3000 model , so even if u could to replace the logic board as he wouldnt be able to remarry it !!!!.
maybe before u tell someone they need to remarry , u should learn before u give false info

Yeah, I'm going to try the 2503 drive in it now and see if it behaves the same.

Edit: Damn, the 2503's blu-ray drive acts exactly the same when installed in the 3003.

the weird part is that force eject seems to be working, so i doubt this ic is bad.
i do know that this ic needs 12V and 5V to operate and both lines do have their own fuse.

but i also doubt one of them is bad.
