Smile I have a few questions about the whole hacking scene.

Hello everyone

First of all, I wanna thank everyone that tries to help. Thanks to you guys I got my old slim PS3 working on Rogero 4.30. I could even repair my broken Blu-Ray Reader.

But after all, I still have some questions:

1. I don't play multiplayer very often (once - twice/week). How big are the chances for me getting banned?

2. What does exactly get banned? My IP or the PS3? Would I still be able to play online on my 2nd PS3?

3. Are there any tools to get unbanned and how many times do they work?

4. I know there is an option for dual booting. Is there any tutorial that shows how to do it? Isn't it the same if I get 2 hard drives and exchange them every time I want to be on the official firmware, without the e3 flasher?

5. Isn't there any way to play a videogame that needs the cd but it doesn't work properly anymore. What about burning the files on a Blu-Ray disc?

Thank you all!

Sorry for my bad English.

Some INFOS:
PS3 Slim (CECH-2004B)
Firmware: Rogero 4.30 v 2.05
I have the limited edition of the e3 Flasher

1, big chance of getting banned.
2, the PS3 gets banned and your PSNID/account AFAIK
3, yes there are, but you will just continually get banned and unfairly use ID's from legit users
4, IDK @playerkp420 or @hellsing9 might know
5, You can use discboot from mM to play games from disc DVD/BDR, but I dont see why you would need to I dont understand your question

Thank you very much for your help.

About the 5. question:

My GTA CD has a lot of scratches. Because of that, it stops working some times while playing. Luckily I could backup the game without any problem. But it's a game that needs CD to be able to play. That's why I'm asking if there is any way to bypass that "must have CD to play from backup".

Regarding question 4, you cant simply swap hard drives because the firmware is written to the ps3s nand/nor chips

@Sorah , load your backup, and put in any other non scratched PS3 BLU RAY game disc (not CD) and it will work.

You dont need the GTA disc in to play the GTA backup.

Ohh, ok!

Do you know something about the dual boot option with the e3 Flasher?

Thanks!

4: as @stevorkz told the most important files of the FW (coreOS) are saved on the NOR
i dunno if the whole FW is saved on the NAND or only coreOS too but your PS3 is NOR

let me explain the coreOS:

what if you put in another HDD? the PS3 boots recognizes its new HDD and wants to install FW again
but how is the PS3 able to load the OS with a not installed/formatted HDD? because it loads its coreOS on the NOR/NAND
if you compare that to a PC where the OS is fully saved on the HDD its pretty usefull
imagine you put another HDD to a PC... it boots to BIOS.... and searches for ever for an OS/bootmanager

an E3 flasher (limited) is the replacement for the 2nd coreOS
for dualboot you need 2 FWs so 2 HDDs and 2 coreOS's
the OFW one is on NOR and the second coreOS for the second FW is saved in the e3 flasher

5: i dont know if a burned game would work but BD-mirror on rebug 4.21.2 will run definitly
it simulates a disc in the BD (only works on rex 4.21)

Thank you! But that's not what the compatibility list says....

Doesnt matter if the list says you need a disc in, or not.

I have BF2 disc in 24/7 and it works for ALL games including all GTA's and everything... so....
