I assume the ribbon cables are all okay as it worked perfect when fitted in the CECH-2503. New info. I pushed the laser on it's track while toggling the disk loading sensor. It started to shake (like it was angry lol) then it reset itself and the loading motor started. I put the top plastic mechanism cover on and inserted a disk, which it took. It did not spin the disk, though I heard a click sound. The eject button did not respond so I held it down to force eject and the disk then ejected. But...... now it acts the same again and will not take the disk when trying to insert it. Pushing the laser while toggling the sensor will repeat this faulty loop. Regarding the controller, do you mean the CXD5132R-1 chip on the mainboard? I don't have the skills to remove this and solder the legs of a replacement.
