Sure, you can ask for help

I have some questions to be able to help you...

- When using FB Alpha RL v1.00, do you see any ROM(s) displayed on the Game List?
- Did you make sure ROM(s) are up to date with MAME v148 romsets?
- What system(s) are the ROM(s) for ?
- Are the ROM(s) in ZIP format ?

SeeYa!

Hi

Thank you for your help.

1. Yes, I can see the ROM, when I press X to load, screen goes black, and returns me to what it seems a retroarch screen, if I press X again in retroarch, it says error loading ROM. I get the same error when using other versions of FBA.

2. No I havent, ROM'S are all taken from my FBAnext from my xbox 360, and they all work perfectly there. Could this be the problem?

3. I was trying to load Metal Slug 1-5, none worked, pretty sure its neo geo.

4. Yes, they are all in zip format.

Also, this is weird, but after installing this version of FBA, I cant seem to find the folder to which it is installed. I have placed ROM's in /dev_hdd0/ROMS/FBA.

These directories are not there, I cant see them.

/dev_hdd0/game/ROMS00000/USRDIR
/dev_hdd0/game/ROMS00000/USRDIR/fba
/dev_hdd0/game/SSNE10000/USRDIR/cores/roms

What I can see is this /dev_hdd0/game/FBAL00123/USRDIR/cores/roms

Thank you again.

You should test all your roms with the Windows version of the latest Final Burn Alpha. Still, Atomiswave games wont run on a PS3. So, some games in Windows FBA, might not run. Normally all CPS1, CPS2 and CPS3 games work on the PS3. I think you have incompatible romsets for FBa RL 1.00.

Thanks for you reply.

So, the ones working on FBAnext 360 are not compatible with ps3?
I thought they were cross compatible?

Pretty much every ROM works on FBAnext 360.

EDIT: Turns out I was missing the neo geo bios file, which is why the roms werent loading. Its running ok now.

Thanks for your help, and keep up the good work.

Looking forward to the new version of FBA, looks awesome.

Ok....

Now I am having issues again, no roms are showing in FB Alpha RL, I can load them fine if I press select and go trough retroarch.

I have placed rom's in /dev_hdd0/game/FBAL00123/USRDIR/cores/roms

What am I doing wrong now?

Also, I cant see a config file, from which I could maybe edit the rom path.

You have said that :

FB Alpha RL will scan the following directories for ZIP files:

Specific directories:

/dev_hdd0/game/ROMS00000/USRDIR
/dev_hdd0/game/ROMS00000/USRDIR/fba
/dev_hdd0/game/SSNE10000/USRDIR/cores/roms

But, these directories are just not showing up on my system, I dont know why, none of them.
Should I go ahead and make the directory manually?

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback, in the first release there were issues with the directories, but they have been addressed for next release.

I just finished testing FB Alpha RL v1.01 with "all" MAME v148 romsets (~40GB), I had to optimize the ROMs scanning module, but good news is that it just takes around 1 minute to scan the whole thing xD. Even when FBA supports around 5,000 sets, the system takes some time to look up the files, this is due to the validation process.

After scanning for ROMs a cache file will be created so you don't have to re-scan everything every time FB Alpha RL is launched. The same happens on the Windows official version of FB Alpha .

Btw, FB Alpha RL now displays a progress bar while scanning ROMs, with some detailed information of what is going on.

SeeYa!
