They're in the US.. $35 shipping. x.x
Edit: I held the eject button in for a while until it flickered the blue light, this apparently doesn't do much other than force eject but now when I insert a disk the clock at the top right spins for a while - not sure if this is related to holding in eject or something else I did. I'm using a PS1 disk for testing, not BD >-< It's been at least 10 - 15 mins by now and the clock is still spinning, no activity from the drive at all though. Edit again: Problem.. ish.. I read somewhere that "E3 flasher only supports NOR memory". Then I checked the ps3devwiki on SKU_Models to determine mine, of which appears to be NAND. (It's CECHC03 BMD-001) Does this mean I wouldn't be able to use E3 at all? I may have read it wrong or something.. confused. Hopefully I wont be needing to buy the E3 anyway. Edit: Is it normal for my PS3 to be saying I have FW above 4.something in the system information? (Can't remember which exactly it mentioned). When I first got it, it said '3.55', then I put 3.55 Rogero v3.7 on it, I assume it just spoofs to 4.something ? If that is the case, does this spoofing effect my capability to enter FSM? Okay! I confirmed that it is normal for it to display as 4.20 FW, it's just a spoof.
I've also installed my laptops 80gb HDD for that bit of extra space and just to see whether that would fix anything.. it was a successful process but still no change at all. I've seen confirmations of E3 Flasher working with the same PS3 model as mine, so I don't think I'm correct with assuming it'd only work with NOR units. I also just realized I was wrong about my PSP model, it's a 2003 TA-085 so I'm not sure if PS3Jig works with this, I have tried the modified PS3Jig which apparently should work with all PSP models but it still doesn't cause the PS3 to reboot. I've also tried going back to 5.00 M33-6 FW and testing both versions there then going back to 5.50 GEN-D3 and testing there again.. same old outcome all the time. I'm not sure what to do, I don't really want to buy that E3 dongle due to the cost for something which has little usefulness but I fear it might be my only option. I don't think my bluray drive is the issue with the PS3 not restarting because I've heard reports of that same outcome happening with other people who have working bluray drives. However, I do feel the lens is likely faulty because it doesn't light up at all (or would a faulty logic board cause this too?) I'll be ordering a new bluray drive + logic board + ribbon cable and also a cheap bluray movie (2010 release.. Just in case I do manage to get into FSM and can use it to restore the DLR's.. lol) which will arrive this coming week. Unfortunately, I feel there's a pretty high chance that the PS3 will still not reboot by the PS3Jig even with the new drive so.. (Though apparently it has eventually worked for people who have retried the process many times so I'll try it at least 50 or so times). Are there any cheap alternatives to E3 which guarantee getting the PS3 into FSM? I don't feel I can resort to doing a BGA swap, don't have the tools or experience for such and wouldn't wanted to fudge it up anymore that it already is. >-< If I do manage to get it working, I'll update this thread with how I did it so others experiencing the same problem can get theirs working too! Edit: I've been reading the Remarry process guide on the ps3devwiki and I came to this:
But even then, do I need to be concerned about this? Because from the "Downgrade BluRay Playback Issue #Fixing" link I found:
Or should I look in to downgrading through the use of a lv2diag.self to 3.50 before attempting the remarry? (I can't seem to find a guide for this so I'd rather not risk anything with it..I assume I would just have to get an OFW 3.50 PUP and rename it to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" then put it on a formatted USB Drive with a lv2diag.self then boot into FSM with it connected to port 0? I'm not sure what lv2diag.self that would be though) Sorry about the long quotes.. can't link yet. >-< But anyway, here's hoping I don't have to go through with the remarry process xD Guess we'll see in a couple days when I get the new parts. Going to firstly attempt to just hook my current logic board with the new bluray drive. If that doesn't work, I'll additionally attempt to hook up the new ribbon cable. If that still doesn't work I'm going to assume it's either due to my current logic board either being faulty or unmarried. So I'll just replace it with the new logic board and attempt to remarry (..if I can actually get into the FSM lol). Last edited by Primpri; 02-10-2013 at 01:42 AM. |

![]() you have a nand console so the e3 is useless if you ask me, but why do you need it, you where on 3.55 allready? |

I would need it in order to get into FSM to do the remarry process. (Only if PS3Jig keeps failing).

E3 card reader and E3 flasher are 2 different things.
E3 flasher will not work with your nand model. But you don't need a flasher, because you are already on 3.55. You need one of these devices to enter FSM. And remarry your drive. Or replace the logic board and remarry that.

Ah thank you, so it will work.
We'll see whether I need one anyway.. hopefully not! Expected delivery is Tuesday - Wednesday for the BD Drive/logic board, I'll update this thread with my findings then! Edit: I found a site based in the UK which are selling a Minimus 32 AVR rather cheap, is there a guide somewhere for getting the PS3 into FSM using one of these? Like what software is required for it? Oh.. I think I sort of found a guide. I installed 'Atmel Flip' and with that I can flash the minimus dongle with a hex file called psgrade_minimus_atmega32u2_16.hex With just that hex I should simply be able to replace the PS3Jig method to enter FSM and continue on with the rest of the Remarry guide? Update: Some of the stuff arrived today.
The Minimus stick flashed with psgrade_minimus_atmega32u2_16.hex made it easy enough to get into FSM.. so the PSP was the issue (or perhaps the cable). I got back out of the FSM with the other Lv2diag.self on my usb stick because I don't want to advance further yet because the seller sent me the wrong bluray drive (KEM-410ACA instead of KEM-400AAA) so I'll have to send it back and hopefully he'll send the right one this time. No change at all to the current bluray drive - disk still doesn't spin and no light from lens. When I receive the new bluray drive I'll attempt to use my old logic board with it to see if that works (which would conclude faulty laser) else I'll just remarry the new logic board (which would conclude faulty old logic board!) Oh.. I also haven't received the new ribbon cable yet, I should try that first. >-< |

if the ribbon cable and power cable match, would it not work?, i mean you are replacing a whole drive, since you can remarry it? |
