Ya I know we have the keys to patch future firmwares its just that its sony. Im pretty sure they are looking into every possible angle possible to maybe have some sort of extra verifying check or some crap that is encrypted etc. You never know
how will they do that in a fw ? when we can decrypted everything in a pup

for the ps3 to decrypted something new ,i guess the ps3 would have to know how to decrypted it .
which would be in the pup file and like i said above we got the keys to decrypted everything in a pup
so devs would find it i guess

the id from barcode is used for the process as far as i know of. you can see it from jig service manual. also the id from mainboard itself will be scanned, but i dunno if it belongs to this process

Ok I understand what you saying now. I did know that lv0 was used to decrypt firmwares but I didnt stop to realise that if sony was going to patch it they would have to do a hardware revision.

Does anyone know if the "HDCP" option is non-functional on c2d units because of hardware difference, or is it because of incomplete conversion? If hardware related, that could be their check right there, although I've always assumed CEX and DEX machines are identical, hardware-wise.

Yeah, I tried the options myself through TM, I don't think it actually does anything

They are identical hardware wise, but that does not mean they are configured the same.

It sets it in software to offstate, but the Syscon and HDMI tranceiver are still set in onstate since boottime.

I was checking the wiki and it seems that:
"There is a check on eid0(!) in lv1ldr, that will trigger a panic (fun fact: it's impossible to generate the checked data yourself, so no cex2dex without ugly patches anymore). "

thanks Naehrwert for the info!
