Wish there was more options for mods for PS3
I remember my first time I actually modded something - was my original xbox.
Even got a clear green box that I frosted (wish I had a pic of it to show you) but it was awesome... Any case - brings this question up... Why can't I seem to find any good ps3 mods, I mean I could still go and buy the original xbox case that i bought way back when- http://www.anthrox.com/store/comersu...?idProduct=136 but I can't seem to find anything to deck out the ps3? (other then buying some molding foam/paint and doing a custom addition to the case) Anyone have any good ideas of sites of where to look for adding that `special touch` to a ps3?

i have attached pc heatsinks, which will hold my ps3 quite cool. cell goes up to 34° max and rsx about 40° max. i have a smaller one on rsx, because i have feared it could bend the mainboard

What heatsinks did you use and did you do away with the bulky ps3 fan and use pc fans aswell? Ive been really considering something similar. I replaced my thermal grease and my machine is still 65/70 at the lowest which isnt something to worry about, I just want it cooler.

wait, i post pics, but do not laugh or say i am gay as someone already did. i like it very much. i wanted to put 2 of them into and i have bought two, but the weight was too much for my taste...it was the smallest tower i could find with copper as i am using liquid metal paste

here how i have attached it. i have used the coolplates from a slim cooler and made a clamp from it. the smaller heatsink has normal paste, as it is aluminium plate

@haxxxen
I havn't opened up the system or anything so not sure what to expect. How did you mount the heatsinks to the board? or was it standard size to a spacific cpu? ... or zipties?

![]() As always always leave your machine well ventilated also clean it every month or 3 month period (though without removing the thermal paste contact) clean the breathing spaces on the sides or in front , also I clean the PSU every month ![]() And lowering the temperatures actually JUST DOES DAMAGE ! as we all know the temperature isn't the case for YLOD (thanks to the one which will not mention his name here who teached me ). As always the cool-down period should not be fast (there should not be drastically temperature changes) << this will crack the ps3 . Last edited by YlodedKing; 02-13-2013 at 11:29 AM. |

With your cell temp at 34° max and rsx 40° max anyone who laughs at your mod is stupid. That looks pretty cool thanx for the pic. I just wanted to get an idea of what work went into those figures. Not bad
