Yes there is. Make sure that you backup hdd_001\home folder as it may delete the act.dat file found in the directories. I am backing it up right now. Mine is 1.14 GB in size.

You can use DEX if you use REBUG REX 4.21.1 (cex2dex), not standard 4.30.1.

Rogero 4.30 2.05 is just like KMEAW tbh, it does what it needs to with no extra things confusing you or getting in the way.

Rebug is for advanced users, Rogero is for anyone imho.

You can update to either through XMB, though we recommend to QA flag + dehash before hand, if it is a downgraded machine.

I always make two backups of my HDD, one via the backup utility (to backup profiles, etc.), another via FTP and another via file manager and checksum compare both so thankfully that's not an issue.

I know it's overkill but it's better to be safe IMO, plus it saved me bricking my PS3 when installing firmware due to a power cut because it took so long LOL.

Backed up the Xregister, dev_flash3 bd files and dev_hdd0/home files so nothing goes wrong while QA flagging. What is a dehash? Mine is normally from 3.55 OFW to KMEAW. No downgrade!

and is there anything else to backup or write down (console id??) before updating to Rebug 4.30. If yes, how do i do it? Is the console going to be downgrade-able after update?

Lol I didnt back up any of those files before updating from kmeaw.

If you didnt downgrade = no need to dehash.

Just update to rebug 4.30 cfw from XMB update via storage media.
(make sure to verify your downloaded cfw pup using my tool: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=51288 )

Done

EDIT: yes you can downgrade back to 3.55 using REBUG 999 downgrader pup or Rogero downgrader pup. No hardware needed and no problemo.

Yes it does.... but you will 99% likely get your console banned... so don't bother.

Hey guys, sorry for being that guy, but I have a few games on my hdd that I've damaged the disks for. I'm aware that 4.30 will not accept fixed 3.55 eboots, does this mean I will have to manually download the original eboots/files? Or is there some automated way of doing this? Or has this problem been rectified altogether?

Thanks

Some say the 3.55 eboots work on 4.30 cfw, but for me it didnt.

Just revert to the original untouched eboots (if you had the foresight to back them up ) or update your game from here: http://yifan.lu/psn/ enter the game id (EG: BLES112233), download PKg, instal through IPF, and boot game as normal.

Or let mM update the game for you, click triangle on your game, hit update.

Done.
