Anyone get RyuGaGotoku 5 working?

My main purpose in life is to play Ryu Ga Gotoku 5. Laugh if you must, but just as a fish is not ashamed to breath water, neither shall I shy from away from my destiny.

Problems:
1. I have no idea what I'm doing.
2. It gets to the loading screen, the very first screen, and freezes

I got around an 80010017 error thanks to the help of snkysnake02 & charlie666.

I am running Rogero 4.30 and Multiman. This game is the latest release in Sega's Yakuza series, but since the US release hasn't happened (not even announced yet) the only version is this Japanese one. Hence the JP title : Ryu Ga Gotoku or "like a dragon."

Any ideas?

If its freezing it could mean one of 3 things:

You need to run it with different settings: try internal/bdmirror or external/bdmirror.

Or its got protection on it further in and more modifications will be needed to the eboot/selfs/sprx's to make it work.

Or it's a bad rip, and it will never work.

EDIT: I found this info for you:

[Patch 4.XX]Ryu Ga Gotoku 5 (Yakuza 5) - Yume Kanaeshi Mono

BLJM60489_4xx_PATCH_by_DUOWAN_ioriyagamiyyh.rar

Game require Firmware 4.31

Ok with FW 4.21REX, 4.30Rogero

Game Full Japanese

Today my hope in humanity is restored. Time for a numbered list:

How is it that the mods on this site finds these killer links? Is there a PS3_Neckbeard.com that I'm not aware of?

I added the below file list and now I'm getting "corrupted files" instead of the game listed in the XMB:

...\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\data\minigame\pachi\
p_a.self
p_aa.self
p_j.self
p_k.self
p_v.self

...\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\data\module\ps3\
devil_minigame_release_masspro.sprx
devil_shader_ps3.ppu.sprx

and the ...\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\EBOOT.BIN

Stupid question: When you get a patch that has eboot/selfs/sprx's, do you just add those to the various directories leaving all other files in that directory alone? I'm assuming you don't want to overwrite the entire dir.

Also, I found some other folks who created the exact same file names, but different sizes. I guess the files come out different depending on who/how created?

I would first and foremost manually back up the original backed up games files with the same names as the files in the patch .zip.

For example: EBOOT.BIN I would rename as EBOOT.BIN.BAK, devil_shader_ps3.ppu.sprx would become: devil_shader_ps3.ppu.sprx.BAK

Then when you copy/paste the modded EBOOT.BIN/SPRX etc into the directory it wont overwrite the old one, just incase you need to revert in future

Yes you dont need to overwrite the directories, just place the relevant files in the relevant folders, double check they are in correct places, and double check you have done them all.

From the sounds of it you might need to find another patch if the ones you have say corrupt, or check your downloads arent getting corrupted.

Revert back to the non patched ones, and try again from scratch.

I had same problem with Sports champions 2, on second attempt it worked fine, no idea why.

Ahh yes...computer admin 101.

Thanks for the reminder. In the heat of the moment one is apt to forget the basics.

@RyuGaGotoku

Also if your game is not showing up in mm, try refreshing the game list. I always forget to do that when I add new games, then there is this brief moment I'm like " mother f*cker I know I just transferred it"

We all have our moments

-->SUCCESS!!!<---

I think the problem was a combination of a not so scientific method of frantically changing files, sometimes hitting refresh, and hoping.

I ended up just recopying the backup, letting MM prompt me with the firmware notification/fix (and letting it do it's thing), and then copying over the above patch files.

I did not realize I would achieve my life's purpose at such a young age.

Thanks again @DEFAULTDNB , @snkysnake02 , and @charlie666

Now...does anyone here speak Japanese
