Ok so last week I went to go turn on my ps3 slim (CECH-2501B, 320GB), and it did this whole thing:
Red standby light is on. Press power/beep/green light comes on and you can hear the fan turn on. After a couple seconds everything just goes dark. If you firmly press the power button again the red standby light will come back on and the same thing will happen again. So I did some research and it seemed like the best bet was that the power supply unit (APS-270) had failed, so I found one on ebay, ordered it, installed it, and I'm still having the same problem. Now maybe the "new" psu I got happens to also be dead? For argument's sake, let's just say it isn't. Any suggestions? |

Did you have a CFW on it ?
Does the ps3 beep when shutting down or does it completely black out out of nowhere, does the ps3 make it to the xmb before shutting down ?

i think this is what the ylod is too the fat ps3.
it's probably a hardware faillure. even a short on one of the usb ports can have the same symptom. did you looked if every connector is pushed in all the way? |

It doesn't beep when shutting down, it doesn't even start to power up the HDD, just turns on the fan for 1-2 seconds then it goes black.
As for checking all the connectors, I haven't done that yet, but I will now. The only ones I've checked are the ones dealing with the PSU, and those are definitely all plugged in. Keep in mind this is my first time actually opening up my PS3 so I only messed with the PSU. Anything further and I'll probably need more detailed instructions lol |

but i have to tell you, i can't remember a single thread where someone fixed this issue on th 25xx serie. the problem is, it can be anything, you would have to check for shorts on the board, or maybe it's related to overheating..... who knows.
