Cobra ODE is software that's locked up in hardware. If you think you're safer from online play then you're wrong. I'm sure you're not the only one that thinks that. If it actually does what they say it does, watch the ban topics explode...as it will affect everyone who owns one.

sry i dont get your point, there is always software needed, otherwise the hardware doesnt do anything?

if it really does support current firmware models. then i dont see whats so wrong about it...thats a feature that i want.

The point is as its been pointed out. You can do this hack via softmod so this hardware piece if poop is not needed so your spending your hard earned cash when you could have it for free

Yes but in retrospect you don't need the hardware. They claim you can use it on newer models...which means they found an exploit on current systems.

So it's either BS and they're trying to get more sells, or they've hidden it for a long time. There was a thread about cfw scans and what they look for. Even with the ODE they still scan folders.

If Treyarch / Activision have permission to scan ps3 directories, Sony can easily do the same and more efficiently thanks to that last maintenance.

Cobra doesn't do anything different that couldn't be done via software alone...yes hardware needs software to work, but in this case you don't actually need the hardware.

@Theeze yeah but its way easier to spot a cfw with all the edited files from the firmware, instead of a hardware mod, on a cfw they can also spot homebrew and you need homebrew
to run games, you need a backup manager, with an ode you run the games from a usb drive on ofw, i could also put an usb drive with some pc iso files in my ps3 to back up my savegames or something so i dont know how they could ban you because of this

But can you?

If it works on new consoles that does seem to say they have found an exploit, but what if that exploit is console specific and needs hardware to access it?

I would much rather wait and see what happens in the coming days and weeks before stating what is and is not about something I have not seen.
