Ok, I'm confused now.

"...with LGPL the the requirement that you open up the source code to your own extensions to the software is removed."

"...SONY has to provide the source code of the modifications made to the LGPL software."

Aren't these too quotes saying the opposite of each other?

Came to the same conclusion... besides, we all know that whether they are in violation or not, the powers that be will bend the rules for the sony suits... so even if they were in violation and it were a big deal, doubt anybody at sony would lose sleep over this. It's ludicrous the sh*t sony has gotten away with.

Webkit is not missing, I followed the page to here: http://www.scei.co.jp/psvita-license/webkit.html

The download link works fine for me.

uhm, Sony isn't doing anything wrong:

The LGPL allows developers and companies to use and integrate LGPL software into their own (even proprietary) software without being required (by the terms of a strong copyleft) to release the source code of their own software-parts.
So any alteration to the code doesn't have to be published.... I guess SKFU had one too many beers...

Oh, fun note. look at the files in the PSstore application besides some interesting test images they left in there, you'll notice the file structure and hopefully, what they did wrong. Hint; under the LGPL libraries can be "linked" to the application.

When I contacted them about this they told me to **** off though.

SKFU is retarded person. Who does said, that Sony modified Webkit? I think they just recompiled it for that platform, and that's all.
LGPL means, that you can link dynamically to library, and not releasing own source code, which is linked to webkit.

This has actually been known for a while (since the egohot and FOF days a little over 2 years ago.) Several freeBSD based files in the PS3. I have said this before but this holds the same issues as wht I said about multiman going open source..... who is actually going to make a complaint?

Sony could murder someone in front of a courthouse and somehow still get away with it. People could complain, this could get taken to court, and somehow Sony would still win.
