its actually very hard and expensive.
removing the rsx: you might pop the rsx, you might pop something on the board, you might pop some of the balls underneath, you might remove pads on the motherboard. putting balls on the rsx: you might de-laminate it, you might bridge the balls, you might remove the pads. putting rsx back on: (same thing as taking it off), it might not even work (rsx is dead without you knowing), it might not solve the issue (you wont know without knowledge of other things). each rsx costs 20-30 - and the boards are too annoying to replace. ^ repeat this process for the cpu, but know that it isnt replaceable. its stressful

i'm sure ur right..it just looks so easy
..then i stay at it..if u have the $$ and can afford the goodies..pratice on stuff and be good at it..each develop his "own" ways to e.g remove a chip with any prefered tool... but i guess each board is different due to diff things..e.g my gpu screwup, might have lifted it a bit with the razor on the side, but the silicon after all the years has sticked so good..just bad luck..for soldering i'm such a guy 99% like to think i can do this..dont we all but the thing is the tools, money and time,patience..if no qualify for all of them..never be pro at it..just to lazy..first investement would be a solder station...then after having this cr*p nobody in this crapper needing repairs..or cfw's...its like it doens't excist ![]() in the end..it's great stuff...love it..damn reminds me again..wish i wash pro

************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
I don't get much sleep, but I'm here bringing your systems back to life because I like to help people. ![]() I appreciate any positive attitudes that are out there.. That guy... Wow, talk about expressing yourself, kind of scares me a bit lol. Anyhow. THANX for your support ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* In my opinion, a reflow should be used as an extremely temporary fix to get a game out of a bluray player, or to quickly backup data because the unit is going to die. It dries out the thermal paste underneath the heat spreaders on the GPU and CPU and just causes more damage.. Reball is the only way to perm. fix your PS3

Reflowing and reballing 'dries out the thermal paste under the heatspreaders' - so that's why you can change it. Also if you reflow both you're an idiot.

39.99 covers everything and I make 25.00 for my time Im not doing this to get rich, I'm trying to help people out. It was my hobby and now I'm doing up to 15 a day from around the country. I'm proud of my work, I only wish that the people sending them to me would be honest about if they have been worked on before.. I keep getting units that are a disaster inside with thermal paste all over the motherboard, even fingerprints in the thermal past on the board lol.************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* While you're in there you might as well do both. If your having a GLOD issue, you can just do the GPU, but I find that its easier than tearing it all apart again just to do the CPU if you get a YLOD a month later.
