I just ordered a ps3 break dongle. Can I use Eclips3 to make it a downgrade dongle? I thought I read somewhere that I could but I cannot find it again. Sorry for the noon question.

Yeah, you don't even need them to downgrade, after using your flasher. Just patch with 3 musketeers and flash.

It is good to have one, in case you ever need to remarry a drive or fix RSOD.

But I wonder does @Jpond83 know that you still need a hardware flasher?

If you do have a hardware flasher, you don't need to use the dongle to downgrade.

I ordered E3 nor flasher also. It was only a extra $5 for the dongle so i just got it. I heard of 3 muskateer but i have not read much on it. If it safe then i will go ahead and do it that way. Im just got a slim for $100 so i said F*** it, i will mod it. Me and my two kids also own rgh 360's so im not new to modding, just with ps3.

Yeah, $5 more I would of gotten it too. It is good to have around, even if you never use it.
You never know one day you may need to enter Factory/Service mode for something, if the FSM homebrew won't work.

I do both METHOD 1 and METHOD 3 of Chapter 2, in my guide below. It all depends on if it matters if the HDD gets formatted.
If the customer has a bunch of stuff, like PSN games, saves, trophies, photos, music, etc.. Then I use METHOD 1, since it will not format the HDD.
If the customer has nothing to save, I use METHOD 3. Which formats the HDD and loses all that stuff.
METHOD 2 works also, but also formats the HDD. If you use that method, and ever want to downgrade back to 3.55, you need to remember to toggle Qa flag on after installing the downgrader firmware.

It is all about what is best for the situation. If you just bought this PS3, I would say use METHOD 3. So you format the drive and do a full dehash.

Just remember the most important thing, is getting multiple valid dumps. Before you do any flashing, be 100% sure you have valid dumps.
