Yes I thought that was possible as well, but it didn't work. However, I'm not sure if there is already a disc inside or not. So that could be the reason why it didn't boot through that method. Is there a way to check if there is a disc inside the bluray drive?

@Mr.Dutch
I have a JTP-001 (1-882-481-21)
@d2damax A quick check to see if a disk is inside is to use something to push back the felt material covering the drive slot. Then you can see by eye if there is a disk in there. If there is, you can open the drive by removing the top metal cover, taking off the magnetic disk and removing the top plastic mechanism cover. These can be left off and you can trigger boot by toggling the arm near the drive entrance. |

I don't know, let us know if it's possible when you try
![]() Don't forget to make a note of where the screws go as you remove them. |

Edit: Forgot to mention, after removing the disk you'll want to reset the drive to empty. To do this what I do is remove the bottom cover, then turn the large circular part (bad description but it should be evident when you're looking at it). The laser deck and disk lock will lower. support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1783/~/remove-stuck-disc I found a hole under the drive and I used a screw driver to crank that disc out! I tried powering it on by inserting a disc.....BAM! HOLY $*** it WORKS!! Thanks a lot for helping me power this on!! Now I have to read up on how to apply 3 Musketeers patch! |
