Thanks I thought you were pointing me to "[TUT] How To Downgrade w/e3 flasher to any CFW" thread. What you linked was what I was looking for. Thanks for the help and sorry if I sounded harsh. It's info overload in here. You get side tracked so easily.

Quick question would the data cable cause no activity. It wont take in a DVD. I found the phat schematics, checked power, I have +5 and +12 on the drive. The MB came with the BRD chip so I swapped the chip on the logic PCB but still no go. I really think the drive went south. At times I thought it was my cell phone on vibrate... the noise it was making.

I have found more times than not, it is the ribbon cable. But logic boards do go bad too.
Or who is to say it is even the original logic board? I see in your first post you say the logic board is an A3? I don't know what that is. The board should be BMD-001, if it is the original.

I did not start the original thread. I chimed in. It sounded like the person who started it had the same problem as I do. The MB is a cech-2001a, logic pcb is BMD-061 and laser is KEM-450AAA

Oh yeah.

I would check the ribbon cable. I have seen a lot of those damaged, because of the way they are bent over the top of the drive and pushed down to the mobo.

I ordered a new cable so I guess I will wait for it to come in before I try to remarry the drive. Sounds like It will probably fail any ways if the cable is bad. Thanks for the help.

Player thanks it turns out it was the logiccard. What yougave me worked like a charm. But after Igot thesystem all back together and closed up.... guess what. No boot! I'mnot sure what it is. There is HDD activity, contoler blinks then it's locked, not responce no video... zilsh I have a feeling it was either flexing the BD or the artic silver. I'll bringit to work and reflow the BGA's and send it though the wash.

Sounds like the thermal compound, or the heat sinks are not seated flush on the heat shields.

I would try doing that, before reflowing. Actually if that didn't work, you should get it reballed.
