apologies all, but I'm new around here and have a few questions i cant seem to find the answers for..

I'm not new to hacking, though I've only done a PSP and a few Wii's - so nothing major..

MY questions ....

whats the order of play to hack my ps3 slim (on latest firmware)... do i need to jailbreak, then flash with CFW? and what's the minimum i need to do to be able to download and play from an external HD - as well as play online (If that's even possible, i know it is with the X360)

anyway - please don't flame me hahaha

You need to identify your PS3 model: look on label on back or underside of your PS3 (CECH-:200x, 250x, 300x, 400x).

You then need to see if it can be downgraded (200x-250x are your best chances considering you said you have a SLIM).

Run minvercheck if its one of the possibles (download in my signature below)

If it returns 3.56 or LOWER you are going to need a hardware flasher (nand or nor depending on your model: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/index.php?title=SKU_Models) and a FSM dongle.

You cannot downgrade without a hardware flasher.

You do not "jailbreak and then flash CFW", you either downgrade to 3.55 OFW > update to CFW, or downgrade (flash) straight to CFW (3 musketeers patch works for this for 3.56 consoles with metldr 0.1).

If it's on the latest firmware, then your only option would be to downgrade with a hardware flasher, but this is not possible on all models, just the phats and some slims. CECH-30xx slims and super slims can't be downgraded.

HELP!!!! So my partner had an E3 Flasher installed in my ps3 running 4.30 Rogero. Had it going for a couple of hours and now out of my total stupidity ive updated it to 4.3.1 !!! Multiman is still showing and its showing farcry 3 and another game. I need to know can i downgrade it again myself or am I going to have to take it to the guy who installed the E3 flasher. Can someone please give me some advice about it.

(the reason it updated was i was trying to put CFW 4.3.1 so the newer games would play somehow it put on OFW instead)

How did you update it to 4.31 OFW? How do you know it is actually 4.31 OFW?

All games work on 4.30.....

How to fix:

If install packages option is missing from the XMB then get the E3 flasher back up and running and downgrade again. Then put 4.30 rogero back on and play 4.31 games.

If instal package option is still there on your XMB, then your version of rogero is spoofed, and it saved you and you didn't update to 4.31, rogero 4.30 v2.05 is spoofed to 4.31 FYI.

Nope.

Its the only way to downgrade to 3.55 (if your OS3 can be downgraded), there is no software method.

If your PS3 happens to be on 1.00-3.55 OFW then you can just update to 3.55/4.21/4.30 or 4.31 CFW from there.

so maybe way forward is finding old PS3 that hasn't been online.. that's the next mission then haha.. thanks
