Please clarify: the PS3 filesystem

I would like to get some information on the PS3 filesystem structure please, if it's on the forums I wasn't able to find it

For reference my machine looks like this: hxxp://i.imgur.com/t8i0Eao.png

* Does CFW completely replace OFW (as in a custom .ipsw for iPhone) or is it more like a patch so to say. Specifically 4.30 Rogero

* What are the flash devices visible in the pic - internal memory like the 4GB in the slim Xbox? What for

* Is the internal HD partitioned in 2 and why is the second one empty

* Where are OFW, CFW, Multiman installed to? And for example the Arch emulator?

* I noticed packages are not removed automatically from hdd0/packages after installation, and wonder why.. do you FTP to clean up

* There are a few options as format hard drive and restore PS3 in the home screen … I'll avoid them but theoretically how do they affect the hard drive and jailbreak

* If swapping out the HD for a new (larger) one, how does this affect Rogero and Multiman and what OS will the PS3 be on?

* Multiman isn't installed per-user but per-system, right?

.
THANK YOU even if you can answer just a few of these!

I will try answer a few....

CFW is a full update, not a patch to apply to your OFW that is already installed. (A CFW pup includes everything you need for CFW in one installable bundle)

Devflash1/2/3 = areas of flash memory (the NOR or NAND)

No idea why 2 partitions, possibly cache.... check the ps3devwiki for info.

mM is installed to dev_hdd0:/GAMES/BLES80608 IIRC, emus and hb will also be installed to dev_hdd0:/GAMES in individually named folders.

Package files can be deleted by using a file manager, or store the PKG files on USB stick and delete of usb stick after installation on your Pc/laptop.

No they wont affect jailbreak. Formatting a HDD or restoring filesystem, will restore to the CFW pup default setting (like a fresh install), it will not remove CFW or "unjailbreak"

Swapping out HDD will not downgrade your PS3. You can upgrade your HDD while on any 4.30 CFW with no fear of faults or messing anything up.

Nope, install it once on any profile, use it on any profile.
