how long until 4k video is more mainstream do you think? I know the tv's are still thousands to buy and most people I talk to have never heard of it! Will we have to wait until star wars is 'retouched' by lucas or disney now I suppose for 4k first? Just curious really it seems a few years off to me anyway

Episode 1 was filmed @1080p so you won't get that in 4k res anyway.

The Phantom Menace was shot on film, they did the digital transfer to 1080p (Lucas, as usual, not thinking ahead), it would have to be remastered to 4k. It could happen.
Edit: Episode II & III were shot with a Panavision HD900F (not enough posts yet to throw the link up here, ugh), those two would be in 1080p. Then again, who cares. I was just about to correct myself and say Ep. I was film whilst Eps. II and III were 1080p. |

Nope, none at all. Hypothetically, you could use blu-ray (100g discs).
