Sony refused to help, can you? (3.56)
I own a PS3 slim and the HDD died.
The system was apparently on 3.65 and now I'm stuck. thesixthaxis dot com/2011/02/14/3-56-hdd-issue-persists/ That article covers my issue. I'm in the limbo of bricked console and may as well be bricked. I'm curious if there is anything you guys/gals can point me towards. Thank you for any help. |

If you had a pre march 2011 NON metdlr 0.2 SLIM console with a min FW of 3.56 you could flash CFW with a flasher, or downgrade to 3.55, format the HDD in your PC and reinstal the HDD once 3.55 or CFW is up and running... no?

Possibly. This is why I asked here. I have no idea what you said, well most of it, the "NON metdlr" and "CFW" mostly.
Is there a guide that covers what you talk about because I was under the impression that you couldn't connect your HDD to a PC since it would format and unusable way. Then again I used WBFS Manager on my Wii HDD so it should work. Can you point me in a direction sir? Also it's August of 2009 manu date CECH-2001A. So I guess it would be pre March 2011. If you read @baileyscream s guide for E3: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php...785#post387785 you can see what you might need, and how to approach it. Baileys guide is second to none! The only problem I have here is this: if you downgrade without a HDD, will it mess up? Formatting the PS3 HDD in a PC will result in losing all your PS3 data (no big deal) but will mean when your PS3 is flashed back to 3.55 OFW or a 4.30 CFW, you can insert the HDD and it will format it back to PS3 usable. I think before you go ahead and do anything we should consult @baileyscream , @playerkp420 , and @Sarah1331 for their expert opinion on how to tackle this 3.56 HDD "brick", as I am far from expert on flashers and fixing this specific type of brick. Hope this helps.

things that are of personal value? psn games can be re-downloaded if you hardware downgrade to 3.55 then update back to 3.56 or above. as it is the hdd is not readable on a pc you could try buying a second hand hdd of any size the hdd just needs to be a 2.5" sata (thats laptop size) and 40gb / 60gb are really cheep put that in your ps3 and it shoild ask you to re-install firmware put 3.56 (if you want to stay on that) on a usb stick and re-install it once done you should be able to put the origional hdd back in and it might work just fine. this is all if your trying to recover personal items from the hdd that is ![]() otherwise when you put the new hdd in then update to the latest 4.31ofw or hardware downgrade to 3.55 |

Original HDD is unreadable, my current one is readable.
I can wipe everything off of it. There is nothing on this drive I care about. I just want my PS3 working. My problem is every firmware I've thrown at this thing downloaded onto two computer, tried with five USB sticks, comes up as corrupt. I was told it's something to do with the NAND having a conflict or something with the HDD. I thought if you connected your HDD to a pc then it wouldn't work on the PS3 since you'd need to format it to do anything with it through Windows. Yes, 3.56v1 is the main issue here. EDIT: Clarified things. Last edited by JohhnyDamage; 03-05-2013 at 03:38 PM. |

I'm not very good with the hardware end of modifications. Thank you for all the help guys. |
