I'm not the one to tell someone to spend more money, but if all else fails, maybe you can look into one of those NOR clips.

I see that your console turns off after you turn it on, deffinately should not be doing that.
Mine doesn't. I'm brand new to the PS3 so I can only go from my very limited experience.

P.S did you cut the trace between the 5v and the 3v?

I cut the trace between the 5v pad and 3v pad. The NOR clip is beginning to look like a good option though.
Thanks for the advice

I got my wiring re-done and the results don't make sense to me.
I tried wiring the teensy for crackmyday's method since I'm fairly sure it's a samsung. However if I wait 20 seconds with the ps3 on then plug it in my computer does not detect it. If I have it plugged in while I power on the ps3 the teensy gets detected. So now I'm back to my original problem of not being able to dump the ps3, all I get is unknown NOR manufacture every time. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Crackmyday has a tutorial, I can't seem to find it. You said you're fairly sure you have a Samsung NOR….just flip the board over and you can be certain.

I got that problem resolved after rewiring and thoroughly cleaning the board.

I have a couple of questions about the teensy++ method of downgrading; I wouldn't be surprised if they were already answered, but you'll have to forgive me for not reading through over 100 pages of posts.

1) Are soldering the teensy++ board directly to the ps3 mobo and connecting the teensy++ with a 56 pin NOR 360 clip two DIFFERENT ways of connecting teensy++ to the ps3, as in I can choose one or the other, or do I have to solder the teensy++ leads to both the clip and ps3 mobo?

I'm already pretty sure that they are two different option; I just want to be sure. No matter what the answer is, I didn't see it anywhere in this guide so I'd also like to know;

2) How do you connect the 56 pin NOR 360 clip to the ps3? I understand perfectly how to connect the teensy++ board to the 360 clip, but apart from a vague picture (the last picture located under teensy++ guide/ Connecting the TEENSY++ with the 56pin NOR 360CLIP), I don't see instructions on how to connect the 56pin nor 360 clip to the ps3 mobo.

Lastly, was there a typo in the teensy++ guide? I noticed that the instructions are numbered wrong;

1: wiring the TEENSY++ to ps3
2: Connecting the TEENSY++ with the 56pin NOR 360CLIP
3: Downloading & Installing

And then it just goes to;

5: create the dumps

Was that just a typo?

Any information/help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, they are two different ways of connecting. You decide which one works for you.

The clip is seated on top of the NOR. You do have to connect the TRISTATE directly to the PS3 and the 3.3V to the Clip as it shows in the picture.

I wouldn't say its a typo, but if you expand '3. Downloading & Installing', you will see step '5' is just a continuation from the '4' steps.

@sAmZoTt

Thanks for clearing that up, mate, much appreciated ^^

Now that I think about it, I DO remember seeing a picture relating to the orientation of the 360 clip; maybe it was on the product page of where I purchased it ^^
