hi

I'm a noob and I just updated to 3.55 kmeaw (from 3.41)
now I think I updated correctly

i find it strange that when I went from OFW to CFW, nothing different is written on the system info (meaning it still only says 3.55, shouldn't it say kmeaw 3.55?)

anyways thats not my real issue.
the problem is that the games work perfectly fine, except at random intervals. ill receive a prompt to update by pressing X or cancel and press circle

and pressing circle just lets me go back to my game like nothing happened
except it constantly happens and it ruins my gaming.

is there a way to fix this?

I would like to stay at 3.55

You're issue; why don't you just update to 4.21/4.30 CFW? There's no advantage to being on 3.55 anymore and you can easily go back anyway.

If you want to stop the issue and stay on 3.55, disconnect from the internet.

If it's a game update, just let it do the update.

I don't know the differences between 3.55 and 4.21/4.30
and quite honestly. I don't feel like reading and spending hours on it and having a bunch of problems and issues.

The only reason I finally updated from using a dongle on 3.41 to 3.55 is because almost nobody supported 3.41 anymore and all the newer games didn't have 3.41 EBOOTS

Why do you want to stay in the past? Stop being scared and just update to 4.30 CFW. Then you won't have any of the issues in your first post. Plain and simple.

Have you turned off automatic updates in the PS3 settings? And yes I do know a system update is not the same as a game update, I also said 'If it's a game update' hence if it isn't then don't do it.

its not that I wouldn't want to know
I'm short on time...and id rather have the old safe bet than to have the flashy new thing that still being worked on

If you're short on time, you could save a lot of time spent looking for 3.55 patches for games by updating to 4.30/4.31 lol...

hell, up until 2 days ago I was using 3.41 and a dongle
I haven't bothered to update my stuff in years man!

what do I need to know about 4.20/4.31 cfw
is it easy to update?

There are a few to choose from but if you just want to play games and you want a CFW similar to KMEAW then I would recommend Rogero 4.30 v2.05... It's just the same process if not easier than you used to put 3.55 on. If you know your consoles not been downgraded, you can install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 straight over the top of your current CFW, Just download the pup file, rename it PS3UPDAT.PUP, and put on a flash drive in a folder called UPDATE, that's in a folder called PS3, that's on the root of the flash drive....and update from XMB, choose usb update and your away. Just Make sure you don't have a disc in the drive when you do it.
