I wodnt expect this console so easily to hack it will have a lot heavier encryption on it than what we have seen and I do like the steam idea for the console if its anything like steam asking as they enable us to backup our games on an external that we purchase . As for cobra hacking it for bc good luck

This PS4 is what the PS3 SHOULD have been, but Sony was so butthurt by the PS2 being modified to where Homebrew code ran on it (bringing piracy on the side) that they went with extreme to try to prevent the same thing from happening again. Now look where that got them.

They are throwing away compatibility for one reason and one reason alone, they still haven't learned from Microsoft to just take a little piracy and attempt to deal with it, but don't lose half your money trying to protect from it.

I firmly believe now that Sony has gone past the point of no return and they shot themselves in the foot trying to tie everything in the cloud. They will fail once more and I'm afraid they will not be able to recover from this foul up.

All of your household appliances and everything you buy dies over time. This is only natural in this last generation or two (or three).

Consumerism? Is that the word? I'm not sure. Everything is meant to die off in a few years, and they force you to buy new things that will also die off in a few years. It's natural to only have a small shelf life; keeps people buying things, keeps people spending money on things they don't need.

It's really sad. Not to mention, we all feel entitled to the biggest and baddest and newest things on the market that we just FEED into the companies giving us this bull.

yeah i am with you on this stuck it sucks but this is the way it is reminds me of the flick the lightbulb conspiracy

as for no ps3 uh yeah cell seems to make that impossible does it suck yes but i just dont see the company being able to deal with that issue so cloud gaming is probably only answer and i imagine they would say time to pay this isn't the same thing...

as for sony screwing themselves when they removed linux and starting going after hackers/pirates yup 100% i mean i think bunny works at ms now doesnt he? and now the hacks are so much harder than softmodding an xbox 1 really for enthusiasts or people looking to pay...these ps3 hax are nice and simples though if you were patient...

If Konami stopped creating MGS on playstation I would drop sony like a bad habit. The sucky thing is, I collect the games and there is no use me owning every metal gear on PSX, PS2, PS3 and PSP if half way through my collection starts consisting of the xbox versions (plus MGS is designed with PS in mind).

But like I said, if they stopped MGS development on playstation I would sacrifice playstation forever even with the other good exclusives. Which is unlikely because they have terms with Sony. So I am cursed

Ohhh is it really a surprise for anyone. 1 year ago you could look at Vita and see that although the console is 100% backward compatible Sony won't let u play ur own games, you have to buy them oer again. the same story with PS4, i'm sure - no free game on Gaikai, wanna play them - buy again.

True to be told we don't know (yet) how reliable will be this *Cloud gaming generation*.
Ubisoft tried some with those cloud saves (AC series) and gone awfully wrong.
One thing is your saves on a cloud system another thing is a game on cloud system that we don't fully understand because it's not implemented yet along with the console.

Sony's ways nowhere close changed a bit, they are not flexible and in some part i can understand why this *fanboy* that wrote this article is so mad about it.
But if a new product is coming, it's logical that they want to *kill* or *erase* old stuff. Every product has certain life-span.
After all they don't need people to keep buying their old systems.

We will see and experience what their saying about this on PS4 release.

Well, I can imagine the obstacle of even contemplating emulating the PS3. I've joked with refraction (lead developer of PCSX2) about any possibility of making PCSX3, and while it was something we considered in the early days of the PS3 (2008), after reviewing tech docs and development manuals, I think the idea became less and less achievable in his eyes. The PS2 is bad enough, with two vector units, the GS and it's proprietary graphics libs, not to mention the extremely strict timings that must be kept in precise tune, the scratchpad of the EE and EE cache, among a million other obstacles. Even a basic interpreter emulator of the PS3 would take a very large group of expert programmers, and even then, it could take a very long time (consider that PCSX2 is 10 years old and is only now just starting to run most games at playable stability and speed, and we've had a couple devs go on to work for Sony, just to give a clue on how good the team is). I imagine even in the emulation scene that PS3 emulation (if it ever happens) is at least a decade away.
