The pinging problem and the unknown manufacturer aren't related. Pinging should work without teensy being connected to the console at all (it needs voltage of course).

Your console is booting correctly? (just to rule out any shorts)
Make a dump, upload it to mediafire and pm me the link..

The console will boot up fine now, I am trying without my hard drive and blu-ray drive, I don't think that matters though.
Thanks a ton for the help.

Okay, that dump of yours is rubbish.

Maybe you should try a different usb port or a different computer, since usb is providing all the required power in your setup (providing you turned your console off before flashing like I described). Maybe you should do another dump with console turned on.

Have you ever tried using a voltage regulator on teensy?

I had originally wired it up with a voltage regulator, then I removed it when I saw crackmyday's method. I have to find another computer that's 32bit now. This is killing me, I've jtag'd tons of xbox's and none have been as problematic at this ps3.
Thanks again for the help.

I would like to thank baileyscream for the guide and judges for the work on NORway. I have successfully downgraded my slim ps3 ofw 4.30 to 3.55 then upgraded to Rogero 4.30 using teensy 2.0++

It took me two days to disassemble, solder all the wires, dump the flash, verify the flash, patch and wrote back to the ps3, enter into FSM, installed rogero 3.55, reassemble PS3, install and activated QA, dehashed ps3, then installed rogero 4.30. Left teensy connected inside the PS3 with the psgrade FW

There was a moment of panic when after triggering FSM, it wont install rogero 3.55 from the usb. Since it triggered FSM there is no more video output even without the usb and PS3 shuts off after 20 seconds, I thought i did something wrong. So I flashed back my original FW, PS3 booted but display shows FSM in 4.30 so that proves my dump is correct and I properly activated FSM. Turns out my usb flash drive is not compatible. good thing my Game Genie USB flash drive was compatible. It was smooth sailing after that.

But the biggest mistake I made was I forgot to backup my saves when I started the downgrade. So i was left with backup save files from my Game Genie USB which at best where 2 months old.

When connecting the teensy++ via the 56pin NOR tsop clip, do I still need to cut the 5v trace and connect the 3v pads?

if yours does can you post the type and an image of it to help others that might have one
actually i don't have a u3
i know someone who didn't want the launcher so i searched for a removal tool
normally USB devices should only have 1 participation on them U3 was on a separate protected partition. here's an unrelated tidbit if you format a usb drive or memory stick into two or more partitions windows would only see the first partition (first is about you you line them up)
