So guys, i find a store selling GOW Ascension at a very nice price, and i'm willing to buy it, but after some search i find that the game requires OFW4.31, and i'm using Rogero 4.30v2. I know about the patch and all that stuff, but i can't copy the game to my internal right now, and my external died last week, so my doubt is about creating a fake update in order to play the game.

I think it is possible, i'm planning to copy just the PARAM.SFO and the EBOOT.bin, patch it to work on my CFW and then install the pkg. marked as "gamedata" and vers. 1.01, in theory, it could work, right? I did this to activate some DLCs and with some corrupted updates.

That's my doubt, i want to know if it is possible, cause lay 150 bucks on a game that i will not be able to play sucks.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for your atention.

There's a genuine update out already, just resign that with 4.30 target settings/keys - no problem.

Install the 1.01 update manually, by downloading it from within multiman or from this site here.

After that, load the game through multiman like you would a backup. MM will say the eboot of the 1.01 update is for 4.31 and ask if you want to change it to 4.30.

Say yes and enjoy.

Oh man, thanks for the response, but i guess i mislead my english. I meant that i didn't know that there's an update for the game already! Sorry for that, but you know if it'll be possible? My idea of a "fake" update package? Cause it may happen that we get a game without a day 1 update. Thanks in advance!

Well to be honest the fake update isn't needed anyway, 4.31 keys are no different to 4.30 keys, the only difference (in non technical speak as I'm not even sure on the exact technical side myself) is that the min firmware set in the eboot is 4.31, a bit like if you use an SFO editor to look at an eboot and it will tell you it's minimum firmware version etc. Anyway, that can be patched automatically by Multiman.

God knows why gow accension isn't working for some on Rogero 4.30 2.05, it's working fine for me and most others. I put it down to user error, or some meddling etc, or file permission problems, who knows, don't have the problem so can't say for sure, the world is made up of idiots unfortunately and it's easy to just call them all idiots who can't get it working.

I wouldn't say that in this case though because a certain moderator here @DEFAULTDNB had the problem, not sure if it was gow or another game, but same situation - game kicking back to XMB, I know @DEFAULTDNB isn't a tool so can only guess that there's some certain something or other not set right somehow that seems to only be a problem on Rogero firmware...

People who switched to Rebug say it sorted out the problem...

GOW:A works fine for me

35gb DUPLEX rip, removed 2 large EXTRA<SOMETHINGOROTHER> files and edited ARCHIVES file, 1.01 update, disc in drive BD mirror and ext checked = worked first time

Seems 99% of my issues stem from simply bad/corrupted rips, tombraider and Crysis 3 had this problem: solution reobtained corrupt files = fixed, every game I have now works fine on 4.30 v2.05 Rogero.

The only thing My Rogero 4.30 v2.05 CANNOT do is PS2 classics.... not never, no how

EDIT: on a side note GOW:A doesnt get set in lastgame 5.0, I have to launch mM everytime... anyone else?

Ah mate, you know what I might have too.... but right now I have too many games to play as it is, I haven't sat down and played a game for a hardcore session for months .. havent completed a game for months...

Still got From dust, hitman, tombraider, GOW:A, Crysis 3, MoH warfighter, MW3, Deus ex, MG:RR, BO2, BF3 campaign to complete.... urgh the list is endless.

By the time I have time to re-re-replay vice city again GTA:V will be out anyway :P
