Its your PS3 menu screen.

Like the shonky pics you posted are pics of the XMB.

YES download, verify, and copy to a to flash stick, put the flash stick into the right most PS3's USB port, update through system update.

Remove any game discs before updating.

Just install 2.05 and you'll have IPF on the XMB. No need for the one in multiMAN.

Yes you can instal packages that way, you could even open mM, go to mmOS and double click on a PKG file to install it, but why not update to latest version and avoid all this pointless confusion you have?

Just take our advice and dont baffle yourself anymore than you have to.
