PS3 Slim--Green light, then no lights.
So i just got a ps3 slim used. It turns on with green lights for about 15-30 seconds, then turns off with no lights. the eject button beeps at me but nothing shows any lights. i can press the power button and get a red standby light. The green light stays solid while trying to turn it on.
Is this a hardware issue? Or could it be fixed by flashing and installing cfw? I saw a guide on youtube about adjusting screws inside the power supply however this model doesn't have those screws inside it. This is the ps3 slim, NOT SUPER SLIM. |

It could be many different things. It is that models version of YLOD.
You have to go the the steps to diagnose the problem. If you don't know what they are, you shouldn't be buying broken PS3s and trying to fix them.

JSD-001 or JTP-001 board?, try soldering the tristate to ground to see if it stays on, you won't get any video output since the ps3 is halted, but if it stays on you know it's a software (flash) error.

its fuses. powering on the console over and over and over and over will get it working. i have this problem with my personal slim, changing parts does nothing - fuses need replacing. but regardless, the problem goes away with constant powering on - but it will come back - so just repeat the process. it hasnt happened to me for a few months now.

is there a schematic of somewhere that shows where the fuses are that could cause the problem? Is there a way to solder the fuse, make a jumper, or fix it? How many times does it take for yours to turn on after multiple attempts? I've tried several and still shuts off around 30seconds.

The first thing I would of done, is solder a wire from the nor tristate to a ground point.
This will narrow the problem down. And yes, it can be many different things. I have had this happen when the thermal compound wasn't applied correctly. I have had this problem, when the flash is corrupted. I have had this problem when the solder under the RSX chip was cracked. I have had this problem with a bad PSU. I have had this problem with a bad power eject board or ribbon. I have had this problem and was none of the above, unsolved. Fuse?
