If you have a downgradable model you will need a hardware flasher like e3 ....either buy one or get someone to do it for you.

my firmware was accidentally upgraded to 4.31 ( not by me :-| ) is there any other way than the hardware flash to jailbreak the ps3 and run games? |

@ocam - alright sir. What version of e3 flasher do you recommend for downgrading 4.31 firmware to 3.55? Because I saw that 4.31 can be downgraded in this thread - showthread.php?t=39766 (sorry, the forum doesn't allow me to post links yet) |

Remove any game disc's and run minverchk as if it was an update on your PS3 (link to minverchk in my sig below) If your PS3 minfwchk result comes back as 3.56 or below you are in luck, and ANY E3 will work for hackable 2000-2500 series SLIMS or NOR phats only, the cheaper the better. We really need to know the PS3's CECH- number (found on back) or the minfwchk result to help you best.

MINVERCHK says "Update data of version 3.60 or later can be installed on this system (8002F967) My device model is CECH-2508B and Date code is 1B. What do you think are my options now? Wait for a new flasher? |
