what emulator do you use?

Preview Version Of MAME PS3 By Robo Hobo
or
RetroArch (another link)

I guess you just have the wrong roms.

for PSMAME
ROMS themselves can be placed anywhere and their location chosen with the frontend. The recommended path is /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame.
with retroarch you can select the roms in every directory. do you have select the imame4all core?

in retroarch you can select different cores for the differnt systems:

use the IMAME4all.SELF from here:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...-support-2418/
iMame4All - Based on Mame Version 0.37b5, again make sure you have the right romset.

The "official" PS3 Mame 0.142 GUI crashes when the /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame directory is not found. You should create this folder before running ps3mame (or use the Imame4All Retroarch core, as @manster suggested).

@manster both of those RetroArch links i believe are official builds. Where Imame4all was never included in any official builds. (the build was scrapped for the PS3, to many issues overall but it does play a few titles well)

It was in one un-official build. I also had a standalone of that core. Will post later about to run out for awhile now. (have to dig it up in my files)

Imam4all in RetroArch uses the 0.37b5 mame romset. (newer romsets will not work)
PS3MAME by robohobi uses the 0.142 mame Romset. (lower romset may work)
but it always best to you the current ones for those particular builds. (not to be confused with the current romsets)

Then also there is mame78 on Retroarch however this core has never been released yet but i can confirm it works, but its still not at a point where it should be released now. It was ported to libretro but square hasnt done no console changes to it and the usual games have issues. However this appears to be the best choice for mame in the future.

When i get back later today i will post the Imame4all core.

Update:
sorry @manster didn;t see you had it posted already

Never tried this imame4all core, will test once the link is posted. The ROM folder bug present on the 0.142 release is really annoying

I want to see MAME0.78 on ps3 soon! After all we do not have games like Mortal Kombat running decently.
