HELP PLEASE!! Ps3 Remarry!!

Hi,

I'm having trouble remarry a drive to a fat ps3. It's a 40gb model CECHG02, the same drive/board that goes with that model. I have remarried on 2 different consoles the exact same way with success and I just can't figure this one out.

I'm in fsm, have all the correct remarry files, usb in the right port, but I keep getting the NG drive init fail error, first time ever!! When I put the usb in the right port the orange hdd light only blinks for a moment as well... I know this is not normal as every other time it has remained constant.

I've Tried downloading new files, formatting the USB, using a different USB, still the same result!

Tried 2 dfferent drives, 3 different logic boards, and tried 3 different ribbon cables, and I know the drives were working.

Any ideas as I'm desperate?

Thanks

Drive Init Executing means it is starting the remarry process
Drive Init Failed with big pink letters ‘NG’ (No Good!) means the process failed. Most likely solved by fixing the communication issue with the drive.
Means that the ribbon is not connected good, or the bd logic board is bad.

I know you say you used 3 ribbons and 3 logic boards. But it is as simple as that. It means something is not hooked up correctly, or the logic board is bad.

I realise all that. But when It starts to read the hdd light flashes orange for an instant and then nothing.. which is weird too. I might try swapping the boards around to the drives and see if I can find a working combination. And like i said the ribbon's are fine as the discs suck in, and the blue light comes on. Must be a logic board issue maybe.

It will still suck in the disc with the ribbon unplugged. As long as the drive is getting power.

You don't need the blu ray drive connected when you remarry. For testing, it may be easier to just have the power cable and the ribbon connected, to just the logic board.

you probably know that the drive have to be empty to remarry it.

or measure if the 5V reaches the logic board... at point 2.

So I guess just having the logic board plugged in by itself is out, as the light always stays blue as it thinks theres a disc inside....

Also do you think my right usb port could be the cause? Because when i turn on the console to start the remarry, the red light on the usb stick only flashes for a few seconds then nothing, same with the ps3 hdd light. Before when I have succeeded the remarry both the hdd light and usb light blink constantly. This time however, they are not.

Has anyone every heard of a ps3 usb ports only working in retail mode? I know it sounds silly but I think that could be my problem. You see even when I try downgrading from recovery, it alwasys says 'checking', it never comes up with an error at all, nor can I update from their. However in normal mode the ps3 detects the USB fine. Maybe this could be my problem as to why it's not remarry, and why the usb light only blinks for a second during remarry. Just a thought.

I have remarried many logic boards, that were not connected to the blu ray drive. It doesn't matter that the blue light is on.

The USB ports worked for you to enter FSM, didn't it?

Maybe try to format the USB drive again. Or try a different one.

And make sure to have all the correct files on it.

I've tried all that. Downloaded the files again, tried on a different usb, reformatted usb, still nothing. Read my other thread http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=53496 for more details. I only say it could be the usb as it flashes for a second then nothing. But yet I can get into FSM with my dongle.... weird.

have you got another phat with a working drive?
you could try taking the board from that and see if it will marry to the problem phat.

with it being a known working board then this will help in finding the issue.
