This can be a fun way to kill some time if you're into modding but it will NOT prevent another YLOD if you've already experienced it unless you do a proper reflow with heatgun, flux, the works. I know firsthand because I've done the ghetto reflow with fan mod and still got another YLOD on my (now replaced) 60GB

Obviously, however reflow is only a temporary repair (if done right), the only real solution is the professional reballing with tin lead-based, the change in question is to prevent ylod.

I have added to this mod and will continue to improve. I have added 2 120mm fans underneath pushing cool air into the PS3 OME fan. The temp is now down to 60c for cpu and 54c RSX.

I will be adding some filters in the next few days and changing to low profile fans. The fan noise is quiet compare to the OME fan. I will updates the with pictures in the next few days with my further mods. Also it might not be important but the fan controller also reads the WATTs the PS3 is using.

A PS3's standard fan can cool 3 consoles simultaneously, I was made to believe by Sony and some technicians..
I had a mod done to my PHAT console which was fairly simple.
The standard fan was replaced with a 19 blade one. A few holes in the form of a circle were drilled in at the bottom of the console to increase the cool air intake, and the fan on the board was set to HIGH.
Then four rubber stubs were placed underneath the console just to elevate it a bit more,to allow for more air to be taken in and since the fan is set to High,it blows out all the hot air without accumulating dust.
I played MGR:Revengeance last night for almost 3 hours and the cpu went to 66celcius and the RSX to 52.
It sounds like a Jet engine tho,but it does the job.

You don't say? I'm not a scientist but heat does rise, which is probably why sonys fan blows up too.

Nothing to do with heat rising. Its to do with the fan blowing cold air onto the heatsink.

The temp of the room is 19 degrees C. I am still working on modifying this and making it better. Just busy with other things at the moment.
