Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help with the little info I have. I "inherited" a fat PS3 with a totalled BR drive and it's loaded with Rebug 4.21 and various tools like the rebug toolbox ,multiman etc. I don't think it's a Rex edition or even 4.21.2 or whatever. I don't even think it's spoofed.
Everything had been working great with all the current releases with the Rebug discless method and I don't want to lose that. I have a feeling though, that I'll have to upgrade pretty soon and I decided to do it with this new version of Rebug. So my question is....Where do I start? Would it be easier for me to go back to an OFW 3.55 and work my way back up? Or can someone point to a tutorial to start upgrading from 4.21? I see some tutorials mention going to Cex or Dex etc.....how do I find out what I'm on? Thanks guys!

@saiyan23 Nope, just install 4.30.2 REX over your current CFW via USB from the XMB update via storage option.. Remember to remove any game discs when updating!

Use Nicolas' guide for no original flash DEX2CEX to convert back to CEX before updating, if you are on DEX:

The toolbox is an automatic spoof if it's set to rebug mode.
Sinds you mentioned the rebug diskless method I think you might be converted to DEX.
If that is the case you'll need to convert back to CEX before you can update to the latest version.
One thing's for sure, you don't have to go back to 3.55.
You can try to update via XMB. If your PS3 is a dex it should give you a corrupted update error.

But there's no harm in trying to update it regularly.

Yeah I edited my post when I re-read it.

If he tries update CEX CFW over DEX it shouldnt install and vise-verso.

So I'll need to convert to Cex before updating. Will I only need to go to the Rebug toolbox to do this or will I need to do something in addition?
Also, with me being on Dex, is that the reason the option to "Update via storage" on the XMB is greyed out?
