Blu-ray LED question

Has anyone figured out a way to make the lighting more uniform and even across the Blu-ray slot instead of being really bright at each side but not much lighting in the middle? I realize you could add one or two more in the middle, but then you'd still have hot spots.

Thanks in advance,

Well have you considered diffusing the light.

Get a small custom made piece of clear plastic that will diffuse the light from one LED in the middle to through the whole opening.

McDonalds Toys do this all the time.

Cheaper than 6 or 7 LEDs.

Yea I've thought of that, but I have no idea how to go about making one, especially in a space so tight

The bluray LED light is actually travled through a piece of plastic. The light you see from outside the PS3 is not the direct LED.

You can always solder out the LED and replace it with another one of lower brightness, but it is a solder intensive job (I think its a surface mount LED).

Um... I'm not sure if you know what I'm referring to. I meant the Blu-ray LED mod, where you wire up two SMDs on each side of the disc slot so the slot is lit up in blue. However, not much light reaches the center of the slot, it's just really bright on each side, and I imagine that if you just try adding another SMD in the center then you'll see a hot spot in the middle and two hot spots on each side.
