I purchased Swap Magic 3.8 (it came with both discs) and followed the instructions. First I tried the easy instructions, then the old method. Using Rogero 4.40 I can get Swap Magic to load, but from there I can't seem to get the USB Loader to appear. The screen just goes black. I can't even get far enough to select a game.
Using a CECHA first generation PS3 with a 4 TB Seagate external hdd. I am using the DVD disc. I am assuming that the "virtual memory card folder" is savedata > vmc, is that right? EDIT: I followed the directions for Open PS2 Loader 0.7 here. First I removed any and all files added from the USB Advance instructions. The screen still goes black. I then tried moving the SWAPMAGIC folder to the internal hdd (root) and still goes black. EDIT 2: I moved the folder to my PSP in USB Mode and I was able to run PS2 Loader. Is Swap Magic incompatible with 4k sector hard drives? At least there is an option to load from the internal hdd, but it looks like I will have to get a USB Flash drive just to sit there for loading... still a better option than going with "PS2 Classics" though since there is no hardware mode support, and also better than Cobra because it won't work without their CFW. Does anyone know for sure what hard drives work with Swap Magic? EDIT 3: This is really REALLY bad. According to this guide I had to use "USB Extreme" to format a partition to NTFS and then to FAT32 a certain way. I used the command prompt version so I could choose the drive letter. Everything worked, and the data on the first partition is intact... but... Apparently this other partition has access to the entire partition. That means that data written to the new partition could overwrite and damage data in the first partition. I checked it in a partition manager and it says the partition still has 50 GB, so I unplugged the drive and plugged it back in.. and.. no. Both partitions say they have 3.58 TB. I couldn't let that go so I deleted the partition and created it new. Last edited by Elliander; 05-09-2013 at 05:31 PM. |
