I got my E3 flasher today... After playing around a few hours I am seriously frustrated. I am a noob at PS3 hacking/flashing, but I am not a noob with computers or fuddling around with hardware. I thought I could to it if I had a decent tutorial.
I have a CECH-2004A, the mainboard layout is simply different, than the one in the tutorial. There is one place where I THINK the clip needs to go, but the chip is turned by 90 degrees (or 270, who knows), which *ucks up the whole softboard ... I think I did it right (tried both possible ways), but I still can't get it to work. Compare the following to the tutorial, you will see what i mean (different sites, all the same picture): http://picfront.de/d/8o2B http://www.freeimagehosting.net/3aaec http://imageupload.org/?d=A1FF7F4B1 The tutorial has a very bad english (to the point where i sometimes don't get what it ir trying to tell me), other languages (at least german) are even more *ucked up (it's like they put the document into google translator). The blue lights (that should give error codes), are just alternatively flashing (1347-2468-etc...) The PS3 tells me, that it can't find the correct hard disk, and yes the esata station is turned on and attached. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading and helping me! |

Yep i´m in the same position! i have CECH2004A, The flash chip in the motherboard position is excatly the same as StiV, its like this (---) but on the manual its (|||) so when i try to click it dont know what direction it should be in because i´m afraid damage this junk! yes about the manual i dont understand this.
"Use transparent plastic connetor to fix it? and do not cover transparent plastic ? " I think most of the buyers are gonna face diffulties with this, and i´m getting worry that this doesnt work at all. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* I was thinking most of the videos that i saw on youtube is only showing "this works" but not how its done, except one video, that has a slide shows pictures with the soldering version,, if you type in e3 flasher you see many video of a camera looking at TV showing you this is possible to do, E3 team should immediatly make video how to connect e3 flasher with the mother board and also what then. i gave up couple of hours ago after 3 hours trying on put the e3 flasher in i gave up Please help me

I think I just broke my E3 Flasher...
There is another big difference. The HDD case itself is different, and also the form factor where the HDD case fits in is different. As a result, you can not get the e3 flasher softboard into the position you need it to be. It needs to go STRAIGHT to the connector pins on the e3 flasher board, which is impossible. I got it working (ehm, "connected") two times, but I broke my e3 flasher board the third time: http://imageupload.org/?d=82AC44481 http://www.freeimagehosting.net/c6d5d http://picfront.de/d/8o31 The differences in the case are shown in this picture. The original has that hole, which is NEEDED, there is something standing out inside. The E3flasher case gets "bent" (seriously bent) (sorry, I am not native english) when you try to put it in, as a result, the softboard gets jammed... (which can break it too). http://imageupload.org/?d=2DA2060F1 http://www.freeimagehosting.net/a17f3 http://picfront.de/d/8o32 In short: It could work, but for the slim version I have, I definitely need a new HDD case and a new softboard thingy. And a new e3 flasher board, those connector pins look dead to me :-( Never be an early adopter. Since i wanted this to be able to use the PS3 as a media center (which would be its primary use), i guess i'm gonna sell it again and stick to pc games and get a simple streaming device. |

actually now looking at the installation guide, which side of the mainboard did you connect the flasher to? maybe it goes on the oposite side because there are two transistors on the installation guide and i cant see them on your pics
