Hi,

I'm asking this question for a friend. He bought a PS3 from a guy but the guy told him the Bluray wasn't working. He said he did change the lens but it didn't fix. So my friend bought it anyway and jailbroke it.

1. Yes we can starts applications

It reads DVD but no bluray/games, what's wrong?

whats wrong is that you have a ps3 most likely with a dual laser. one for dvd one for blu ray. the dvd one still works. the blu ray doesnt. and you can start applications because you dont need the blu ray drive at all to play games from the internal hard drive or run applications. you only need the logic board under the blu ray drive to do that. you need to open up the blu ray drive. look at the laser. the full assembly. and order the exact same. if it has 2 lasers. then you need to replace both lasers. and just but the whole assembly dont order just the lens if you can. its easier that way. or you can have it done at a shop but it will cost probably a good 100 dollars

on the backside of the laser on the center track it has a model number. example: kes-400a or kem-410
